An exclusive Supreme Championship Wrestling interview with Konrad Raab.

Life after retiring from wrestling in SCW and how his new NASCAR Cup Series adventures are going exclusive Supreme Championship Wrestling interview with Konrad Raab. Darlington, South Carolina. Friday 20th March.

It has been a while since anyone in Supreme Championship Wrestling had heard from the man who recently retired from wrestling in Supreme Championship Wrestling known as the former three time TV and the former Underground Champion, Konrad Raab. It had been one hell of an adventure so far in his NASCAR Cup Series rookie career that he already had two wins on his back from wins in Atlanta and in Las Vegas last week.

But there was one thing that had arisen in the Supreme Championship Wrestling front that was caught with multiple cameras there and the reason the interview with Gavin Sattler was happening because the video went worldwide about a question a fan asked and it caught Gavin's and SCW staff attention. They were in a room where the drivers get interviewed before the race starts and where driver meetings happen, but it was only Konrad and Gavin Sattler there. Konrad was in his Red and White Kaulig Racing firesuit with Rewe sponsors on it. They shook hands and sat face to face with each other.

Gavin Sattler: “I'm here at Darlington Raceway for the Trucks, O'Reilly and Cup Series race this weekend with the man who recently retired from wrestling in Supreme Championship Wrestling and made a new career path in NASCAR Cup Series full time, Konrad Raab. Thank you for taking your time out of your busy schedule to meet with me Konrad.”

Konrad Raab: “The pleasure is all mine.”

It was a very different feeling when Konrad left on not-so-good terms, but it was something to be explored, and Gavin did notice that, actually, Konrad did seem like he was in a much better place than he usually was.

Gavin Sattler: “Supreme Championship Wrestling staff wanted to catch up with you about everything. But the most important part that left the SCW staff and even myself in shock with the video going all around social media was when you answered a fan question about what you're favourite wrestling company was and you stated Supreme Championship Wrestling. Tell me more why you said Supreme Championship Wrestling was the best company you've ever wrestled in?”

Konrad Raab: “Because I was actually being able to be a wrestling character because I never wanted to be myself in wrestling, I just want to be a wrestler that people will remember me by. I enjoyed every single minute being in Supreme Championship Wrestling and it was the best wrestling company I was apart of. That video you saw, I meant every word of it when the fan asked me a question because I really did, I really did enjoy wrestling the best talent I've ever fought and that's not a lie out of all the wrestling companies I've wrestled in, Supreme Championship Wrestling was my favourite and I said that in the video. Sure, it might have seen on the way out that I didn't enjoy wrestling in Supreme Championship Wrestling, but I was tearing up inside after the match that I was leaving and walking away that I honestly didn't want to do, but I had to.”

Gavin Sattler: “Also you said something about that you never wanted to retire from Supreme Championship Wrestling because of the contract dispute. Can you explain more on that?”

Konrad Raab: “I never actually wanted to stop wrestling for Supreme Championship Wrestling. Truthfully, when I was handed the legends contract and I looked though it, the thought of me not being able to strictly work Thursday only matches with me having to wrestle PPV matches on Sundays broke my heart because I couldn't wrestle on Sunday PPV's anymore. I even cried because I really wanted to keep wrestling for SCW. I tried so hard to get the staff to change their minds, and they said they couldn't make changes to one wrestler, so I had no choice but to reject it, even if I was tearing up about it. I enjoyed every single minute of wrestling there where I wasn't judged for playing a wrestling character. Even getting me out of my comfort zone turned out to be the best thing that happened in my career when it came to hardcore matches. Granted I made a ton of mistakes, but I don't take away anything away that I've done there and I meant every word that I said in Vegas that a fan asked me.

Another break from Konrad who was doing a very extended interview to show his real side of who he was for the first time.

Konrad Raab: "Wrestling the likes of Xander Valentine, Asher Hayes, Shaun Cruze, Enigma when he was there, Kimberly Williams, even Kandis and Tommy Valentine for that matter, I had nothing against those guys in reality. They had great matches with me and they might think differently of me and that's fine, I don't expect them to like me, but they were the best wrestlers I fought and even Alistaire Allocco is still considered the best friend I had there as well as Kim who were there for me since day one. The SCW Championship match in my home country is still the best moment I'll ever have in my life and I will never forget it and I was so thankful for the staff for arranging that match for me that only made my feelings on what I said even more valid.”

Gavin looked at Konrad and believed every single word he had to say and regardless, it was a very lengthy answer and he saw how happy Konrad was even coming in to speak with him and it did see a side of Konrad that he was actually unhappy that he had to choose one career over the other. Konrad had more to say to expend on that bit.

Konrad Raab: “The main reason why I left Supreme Championship Wrestling was because my efforts in Xfinity now known as O'Reilly Series became way too big with the amount of wins I had and the championships I've won both regular and the main championship as a whole. Every driver, ever NASCAR staff, even the team themselves said I should be in the Cup Series and it was too much for me to ignore that I had to give that a shot. It wouldn't have made sense if I stayed in O'Reilly Series if I didn't give a full time run in Cup Series, especially how big I gotten in the first few weeks I started in O'Reilly Series that I had to do ARCA Menards a full season as well. If I was allowed to wrestle on Thursdays, I would go back to Supreme Championship Wrestling in a heartbeat because that's how much I loved wrestling for the best company in the world.”

Gavin Sattler: “You did leave with some extortionary talent that are continuing your legacy with The European Fiery Nation which did say to me that you really did enjoy wrestling in SCW and the fact is, Supreme Championship Wrestling has never been better with reaching attendances in Europe because you decided to bring them in for the future to give wrestlers a chance in Europe."

Konrad Raab: “That's not just my idea, it was my twin brother Lord Raab's idea too. We were so concerned and worried that there wasn't enough European wrestlers given that chance so we opened up a wrestling school a few years ago to get European wrestlers a chance to make a mark. Now we've expended to another European Fiery Nation team in another company that SCW could be using if Dakon or Ludvig ever got injured and we got a talent who's doing well who represents us in another company who recently won the Coliseum title. Oskar as you know about him as he's mentioned his efforts elsewhere and Kemal's career in another company has really took off in fashion for him to be a TV title contender in another company and he recently beat Syren so things are going pretty well for the team. There's going to be more European talent in other wrestling companies very soon that me and Lord Raab are working on. All these talent are the future of wrestling and I'm so happy for Federico when he won the TV title in his debut, that means a lot for our school he was the first wrestler from my school to win a championship after me in Supreme Championship Wrestling.”

Gavin Sattler: “Do you consider wrestlers in SCW still you're enemies?”

Konrad Raab: “No and I want Supreme Championship Wrestlers to come and see me race and see the real side of me than the one who played a wrestling character. I'm opening doors to any Supreme Championship Wrestler and staff who wants to interact and see me. If they feel they want to resolve issues with me, I'd be happy to because everyone in that company are now considered my friends. I know it might be hard for them to understand, but I would more than happy to hang out even with the enemies of EFN right now because I'm that guy who's open to friendships and discussions about life and even just to enjoy seeing me race and seeing the real me you know. I don't hate anyone in Supreme Championship Wrestling, I respect every single wrestler that I fought against and I never ever said that, but I really do and I hope Supreme Championship Wrestling continues to be successful without me, I really hope it continues for many years and the day that it stops being a wrestling company, I will die inside, but also honoured and happy to be proud to have been a wrestler there.”

It was clear as day that Konrad was very satisfied with the progress he had made with his school and so many more students coming in and Gavin saw how much Konrad was actually satisfied with his career in Supreme Championship Wrestling but of course, his racing career especially at this point can not be ignored which Gavin gets into.

Gavin Sattler: “So tell me about your Cup Series adventure, I hear you're doing pretty solid with some solid top ten finishes and even the time that you were passed out after COTA which was shown on camera you passing out on the track. Why was that so you can explain to non NASCAR fans like myself?”

Konrad Raab: “I passed out because the heat was so hot, even my friend AJ had to be wheeled to the medical facility. A lot of drivers had it bad and got sick, over it, even vomited a few times in the race because my lid fan nor my cool suit was working.because the lid fan wasn't working like AJ had the same issue. I even shocked myself when I finished eighth in the race because I'm not very good at road course races. Not a lot of wrestlers understand that it takes more than driving in circles to pull yourself through. You have to deal with punishing heat weather and downpours of racing in the rain in the case of road course races.”

Konrad has a drink of water and it was the most open interview so far that he had done in Supreme Championship Wrestling or wrestling as a whole because he was ready to open up a lot more about himself.

Konrad Raab: “Atlanta is where everyone knows I'm undefeated in as I've won all three series. I even had to do Phoenix Indycar race right at the last minute because they wanted a NASCAR driver to promote Indycar and NASCAR double weekend and I was only too happy to do that. There's been times where I have struggled to get used to driving a Cup car every weekend and had really tough races like Phoenix and Daytona with some engine and tyre blow up issues along with getting used to the changes of adapting to being a Cup car because it's so different to O'Reilly Series cars, but overall, I've never been in a better place to be honest that I've totally been more myself since I've slowed down wrestling matches.”

Gavin nods, even forgetting that Konrad was just more than a NASCAR driver and he had to bring something up that Konrad has been doing during his time away from wrestling in Supreme Championship Wrestling.

Gavin Sattler: “Not only you've done Indycar, but you've also done some midget, sprint car racing and Endurance Racing as well. Even the VP racing sportscar challenge so you have done many races to gain your racing credentials. What's that like to be the first former wrestler to explore those opportunities?”

Konrad Raab: “It's been amazing. I don't regret a single bit of the experience I gained doing these races along with UMP Modifieds and Pro Late Models racing as well. The VP racing Sportscar Challenge race was to build my confidence in road course races. Also I've done a Truck race in Atlanta as well because everyone in Kaulig Racing told me, AJ and Ty that we all need to do a Truck race this year to promote the team. Plus the NASCAR bosses really wanted me to do the Atlanta Truck race as well as the O'Reilly Series Atlanta race. After tonight as AJ is doing Darlington Truck race tonight, even if it was last minute as we had a driver being suspended for saying things that well, you shouldn't say on camera, we all have had that experience to help build the Truck programme the team have got going.”

Konrad took a drink and Gavin was really enjoying seeing another side of Konrad that he knew that Supreme Championship Wrestlers had never seen and will get to understand Konrad more on the way his mind worked and how different he was to where he was a year ago.

Konrad Raab: “Another friend Kyle wanted me to do some of his series and I thought because of how tall I was that I couldn't do midget and sprint car racing, but this guy who's the same height as me in NASCAR, Carson inspired me that hang on, I could do this which Kyle and a few of his friends wanted me to take part in the series. Endurance GTP cars are the best cars I've ever driven in and I like to do more Endurance Racing in the near future. I do aim to do some more dirt car racing this year and want to do the Chilli Bowl next year when I've had more experience doing midget races.”

Gavin Sattler: “It's clear from my account that you're still wrestling, but you're more of a part time basis now, right?”

Konrad Raab: “More bi weekly with a couple of companies because I still got that anger I need to let out. The only thing that was true about me that was transferred to the real me was the anger issues because my father neglicted me and never wanted me in his life. But my anger has toned down a lot the last few months and even I can see that in myself. Everything else with disrespecting wrestlers and burning them, that was the wrestling character Konrad. That was another reason why I didn't want to stop, knowing I still have that anger fire inside of me that needs to be put out.”

That was really eyes opening for Gavin that he actually saw that Konrad actually did care about Supreme Championship Wrestling a lot and you could see the sincerely in him on everything he said and there was no hatred from Konrad at all.

Gavin Sattler: “I heard you're married with three kids now with another partner, is this true?”

Konrad Raab: “Yes it is and ironically, we were together when I was in Supreme Championship Wrestling still, but I kept it quiet because well, the wrestling character me didn't want to expose my wife Jasmine Williams to that, despite being a massive wrestling fan. Well, lets say I'm expecting four more kids now too. She has been a great partner for me and I learned a lot about her life and she's learned a lot about me and partly, it has been because of my wife that my anger has toned down a lot and she's seeing that because I've never been happier to be with the best wife I've ever had. Jasmine can't even harm a fly if you tried and I needed that sort of partner to get my life back to normal. She's a professional skateboarder and we met ironically at a wrestling festival a few years ago that really helped me be better as a person. I even went to see her compete in the Olympics for skateboarding, where she got a gold and a bronze medal in street and vert womens skateboarding.”

Gavin Sattler: “Congratulations on the future arrival of having four more kids on the way and the wins you've gotten in Las Vegas and Atlanta. I wish you all the best in your NASCAR Cup Series career and wish you all the best of luck on capturing the NASCAR Cup Series championship. Any last few words?”

Konrad Raab: “I will aim to go to a Breakdown show at some point as a fan of Supreme Championship Wrestling that I am because I love that company and I would love at some point if it were to close down, I will be on the first plane to wrestle there in it's final show and I will be a lot more honest and real with the company. Keep Supreme Championship Wrestling going guys because I want that company to grow and bring in new talent for it to grow higher heights than it already has and I will continue to encourage future wrestlers to join Supreme Championship Wrestling as it's the best damn experience I had.”

Gavin Sattler: “Thank you very much for spending your busy time with us and thank you for being completely honest about Supreme Championship Wrestling and being just how positive you are. I hope we can interact with each other again.”

Konrad Raab: “Thank you for checking up and wanting to double-check things with me. I hope to see you soon. You and every SCW wrestler and staff are always welcome to come and see me race, whether it's NASCAR, dirtcar racing or even just some crazy IndyCar, endurance, and other races I may do in the near future. We will hang out and be guys who want to go out for drinks and everything you know. I really mean every word of everything I've said.”

They shook hands as it was broadcast to the Supreme Championship website and all across YouTube platforms, showing the real, raw Konrad Raab interview that everyone wanted to hear and see from him, as the cameras then went to black.
